Pour the amount you need into a clean, roomy container — the fiber regains a lot of volume. 150 g of dry product gives about 3 kg of ready-to-use substrate.
Rainwater, reverse-osmosis or demineralised water for preference. Hard water eventually degrades the fiber's properties.
Add water gradually until the fiber is fully saturated. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for it to fully regain suppleness and volume.
Squeeze gently. Properly wrung out, the moss stays damp without dripping. This is the step that prevents an asphyxiating medium at the roots.
Pure or in a mix, without compacting: our long fibers (8 to 16 cm) should stay supple and airy. No fertiliser or additive at this stage. Keeps for several days in a clean, loosely closed container.
